Doorbells and Door Chime Changes Over the Years

Who isn’t familiar with the doorbell! Over the years, it has become one of the most commonly used items in many households. The doorbell is basically a signaling device placed near the door of the house. A majority of the doorbells used emit a sound or a series of sounds put together to create famous tunes most of which are nursery rhyme tunes. Doorbells are used by visitors to indicate their presence at someone’s house. In modern times, an electric button has replaced the old fashioned door knockers.

Modern times have seen the doorbell change in form. The wireless door chime has been the most innovative design for doorbells so far. Wireless door chimes are probably the most important accessory for many houses. Such chimes are often referred to by the masses as door buzzers. In the past, old and antique door knockers were prevalent. Though eloquent, they were difficult to maintain and one had to make a sound. Wireless door chimes have brought a new angle to this door-knocking system and are comparatively more convenient to use. The comforts provided by such chimes are sure to catch the attention of any house owner.

Wireless door chimes even provide a mini security system for one’s home. They act as alarm devices or gadgets placed near the gate. The device is designed to emit a specific kind of sound to alert those inside of the house on the arrival of a guest and his pressing of the buzzer. The main goal of installing a wireless door chime is to enhance the security system of the house.

Wireless chimes do not have to rely upon electric cables to function. The working program of the wireless door chime is based on a transmitter that sends signals to a radio receiver when a visitor presses the buzzer button. Wireless chimes are most often used by people who have a drive-through business or those with gates very far from the house.

Modern technology has endowed wireless chimes with various multiple features. Today, a wireless door chime can do much more than just emit a sound. Many additional features in different wireless door chimes provide the owner the freedom of using the chime in whichever fashion suits him or her. Most of the new chimes not only feature the alert sound mechanism, they also feature alert lights or video cameras near the buzzer.

Other wireless door chimes have an in built pre programmed bell push button. Some of these chimes even come with the option of choosing between different chime tunes; they can even be adjusted to different volumes too. These chimes even come with the added feature of different visual alert icons that allows one to check the specific gate of the button that was pressed. The latest chimes have a range of up to 250 feet. These door chimes have the capacity to work with up to 3 push buttons, motion detectors and door contacts. Most of these push buttons come with the LED light option that shows whether the button was pressed properly or not.
